The 2019 International Window Film Tint-Off and Conference

International Window Film Tint-OffTM – Paint Protection Film Division WinnersThe 2019 International Window Film Tint-Off and Conference (IWFC) took place this year at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was a three-day event full of networking, valuable learning, and friendly competition sponsored by Window Film magazine and Paint Protection Film Magazine.

Getting Revved Up

Though the official event didn’t begin until Wednesday, those of us competing had to attend the mandatory installers meeting on Tuesday for the Paint Protective Film Division. This is where we drew numbers to find out which heat we would be competing in. I was happy to be competing in round 4, the final heat. The advantages of being able to watch the competitors go before me, and starting with a clean and prepped car from the previous heats couldn’t be underestimated. Through watching their techniques and how the judges responded, I’d get a leg up on my rivals, and there were a lot of rivals. Over 50 of the best installers were in attendance, hand-picked by their respective manufacturers. Among them was Chris West, 1st place winner of the 2018 XPEL ULTIMATE competition, an admirable threat.

I had until Thursday afternoon before my heat in the competition, so I took extra steps to be sure I was focused and sharp until then. I rested when I could, went for a workout, and got a massage to help me relax. I felt prepared and ready to go but was still cautiously nervous. I’ve been successful in the past, so the bar was set high and there was a definite awareness of the target on my back.

Let the Games Begin

On Thursday, when it was finally my turn to enter the arena as a competitor, I zeroed in on my goal: I was going to make it to the top of the pack for the Paint Protective Film Division. During my heat, I was in the zone and completely in my element. All of my attention and years of preparation lead me to complete a quick, professional, and near-flawless film install, crushing the competition. The judges were so impressed with my work that they drew a smiley face on my film.

At 9:30 p.m. that night we got the list of who had qualified for the finals, and wouldn’t you know it, Chris West and I both made it. The finals were at 9:00 a.m. bright and early the next morning and it was a knockdown, drag-out fight! Here we were, the best of the best, competing for the first place spot. In the end, I know I could have done a better install on my bumper so I already knew I wasn’t placing first. I placed third, maintaining my winning streak and making this my fifth year in a row placing in the top three. As calculations stand, I am still the only competitor to take home 1st place twice, and with two different manufacturer films, at that!

Tyler O'Hara, 3rd Place in the International Window Film Tint-OffTM – Paint Protection Film DivisionThe Real Win

Now, competing is excited and I love it, but what I look forward to the most at these conferences is learning from the most successful people in our industry. I gravitate towards them to learn all that I can to grow my company and be of better service to my customers. I am extremely grateful for the partnership I have formed with the great people at XPEL. I was able to enjoy nightly dinner meetings with them throughout the length of the conference, and the XPEL employees have become close friends and PPF family. The love and support from this manufacturer far exceeds anything I’ve experienced in my 12 years in the field. They are truly phenomenal.

Window Tint: How Dark Should I Go? Let’s Find Out!

window tinting by american wrap companyInstalling window tints can be one of the best decisions you make. Other than increasing the aesthetics of your vehicles, they can go a long way into improving your privacy while driving. Even better, window tints help to regulate the internal heat of your car, which can easily help reduce the amount of energy you spend on cooling it during hot summer days.

Since tints also help to regulate the penetration of UV rays, they can help reduce the chances that you will develop skin cancer from excessive exposure. One aspect that can affect the effectiveness of your window tints is the level of darkness you choose to have them in. While you might want to choose excessively dark window tints, there are laws that you need to follow as well as considerations to make.

Read on to know how dark your window tints should be:

Why Regulate Window Tint Darkness

While you might want as much privacy as possible by using window tints, it might actually end up being a safety hazard. For instance, if your windows are too dark, it might be tough to see while driving. You might think that this might not apply for side and back windows, but it does. Installing window tints that are too dark introduces blind spots to your line of sight.

On the other hand, the law regulates window tints for security reasons. Take an example of a police officer approaching your vehicle. They might want to see the driver as well as examine whatever is inside the car. In a nutshell, the laws are concerned with the light transmittance and the luminous reflectance capabilities of your windows.

The Basics of Tint Laws

Different states have different tint laws. For instance, a state might allow drivers to have a rating of at least 70% VLT (visible light transmission), meaning that all vehicles should have at least 70% of visibility. In case the VLT is less than 70%, you are non-compliant with the law. However, some states might have more lax requirements than others, and it all trickles down to the weather conditions of the state.

For instance, in Alaska, where road visibility is quite poor, the VLT is quite high compared to Florida. For the former, the fact that there is enough sunlight to let light into your car reduces the danger of using dark window tints. Even in the states with great weather, however, there still has to be a minimum VLT percentage to allow police officers enough visibility into your vehicle, especially in the front seats.

The Law Also Varies With Window Location

You need to observe different window tint darkness levels depending on the location of the windows you are dealing with. For instance, while California tint laws allow for front side windows to have a minimal VLT of 70%, the laws that govern the rear side and rear windows are a little bit laxer. As for Arizona, the front side and rear side windows are allowed a minimum VLT of 25%, with the rear window being allowed a minimum of 10%.

When it comes to windshields, majority of the state laws require little to no window tint. Some laws also have provisions on the number of stickers and decals that can appear on a windshield as well as the specifics of where you place them. In regard to the color of the tint, most states are against mirrored material, one-way glass, or other opaque materials. This is because these items easily eliminate visibility.

Medical Necessity Exemptions

Tint laws have exemptions. This mostly applies to individuals who have certain medical conditions that can be exaggerated by too much exposure to sun rays. Different states include different diseases in their exemptions. Some of these medical conditions include:

  • Melanoma
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Bloom syndrome
  • Lichen planusactinus
  • Actinic folliculitis
  • Psoriasis
  • Dermatomyositis
  • Pellagra
  • Hydroa vacciniforme
  • Solar urticaria

If you are part of the exemption for these laws, you have to carry the right documentation every time you are using your car as proof. The documents should prove that you have been diagnosed with a medical condition that is exacerbated by exposure to excessive sunlight. The diagnosis should be made by a licensed medical professional. The documents should also outline the specific UV exposure required to meet the medical condition requirements as well as the length of time you should limit your exposure to UV light.

You should also have documentation stating the specific vehicle the tint exemption is applied. If you are not certain of whether you meet the tint law requirements, you can always have your vehicle tested.

Choosing the Right Window Tints

When choosing between window tint options, it is vital to understand the tint laws in your areas. This includes the different requirements for all windows. As long as the tint darkness you choose doesn’t cross the minimum requirement, you can choose to keep your windows as dark as possible. This also trickles down to the level of privacy you want while driving your car- darker windows will offer you more privacy.

Also, you should concentrate on the level of UV rays protection that a tint option offers you. The best options should protect you from both UVA and UVB radiation, which can lead to skin cancer. It is wise to seek a solution that offers you this protection over the long term. It should also be quite easy to maintain the material you opt for.

What Makes Ceramic Tints Effective Enough?

Ceramic tints are a great option as they contain non-conductive particles. This can be quite effective in regulating the level of heat in your vehicle, lowering your energy budget. Other than helping you block out harmful UV rays, the tint doesn’t fade away, unlike other sub-par tint options. Also, it doesn’t interfere with your car’s electronic signals.

The right window tint darkness level should improve your privacy, make it comfortable enough to drive in your car as well as protect you from the effects of UV rays. However, compliance with tint laws should be a priority when choosing one. Contact the American Wrap Company today for quality window tinting solutions or insights.

To Bulk or Not to Bulk? When to Bulk/Custom Install Clear Bra

All too often I see people on the internet and have customers come to me asking about bulk installs. You may be wondering what is a bulk install? A “bulk” or “custom” install is where we take giant sheets of uncut material and essentially install it from scratch on the car. This process is usually more wasteful, very time consuming and should only be performed by installers with many years of experience. Hence the larger price tag it comes with.

Are Bulk/Custom Clear Bra Installs Ever Worth it?

Now I am not saying its all bad by any means! There’s just a time and a place for it. The reason I felt compelled to blog about this is because I feel that there is a lot of misinformation floating around social media, the Internet, Youtube and frankly straight out of other installers mouths! In my opinion, an installer that touts how they only bulk install doesn’t have access to great patterns! Here at American Wrap Company, we are exclusively aligned with XPEL and the DAP. The DAP is XPEL’s pattern cutting software and quite frankly XPEL makes the best PPF patterns in the industry. Starting with a quality pattern is super important but for us, that isn’t good enough. With over 18 years of experience in this industry and a decade of time running the DAP, on every pattern we cut we extensively modify and manipulate it in the program prior to pressing cut. We make sure edges are extended and corner notches are removed, bumpers are extended to wrap deeply into recesses. All of this yields a very clean long-lasting final product for our customers. Another reason why having solid patterns to start with is super important is EFFICIENCY! We are able to modify our patterns and then “nest” pieces together in order to save square feet of material which then helps us to keep costs down for our customers while still providing a truly custom, wrapped and tucked install of Paint Protection Film. This way your Tesla Model 3 full car wrap doesn’t cost you $7,000+ dollars like MANY other shops are price gouging people for!

When to Bulk and When to Use a Pattern When Installing Paint Protection Film

I have thousands of hours in bulk installing PPF, so don’t think I don’t know what I’m doing or talking about. I have bulked hundreds of hot rods and classic cars, random exotics like the Jaguar XJR15, C7 rear bumpers, Tesla 3 Rear bumpers, and Trunks. Bulking has a time and a place! On every Tesla Model X, Tesla Model 3, and Tesla Model S I bulk the side mirrors. Bulking the Tesla side mirror yields a super clean install and is actually easier and less time consuming than using a pattern. The Tesla Model 3 rear bumper is another great example of when bulking is appropriate and makes total sense. The DAP pattern has an unnecessary seam and when bulked properly we can do it seamlessly. The Model 3 and Tesla Model S hatch is another prime example. We can manipulate the film to achieve a very save one piece install. It is crucial when bulking to make sure the installer really knows what they are doing. Ive seen a lot of installs where they put to much tension into a piece to try and be the one-piece hero but it is very risky because it compromises the structural integrity of the film. This makes the film rip and punctures much easier. When over stretching the film you can also crack the self-healing topcoat which ruins the piece.

So in the long and the short, I feel bulking has a time and place. Patterns have come so far and XPEL makes the best patterns money can buy which provides a great starting point. Bulking requires high levels of skill and shouldn’t be attempted by new installers. You must be very comfortable making all your trims on paint with a razor blade. Everything has a time and a place! Don’t be brainwashed into thinking a bulk install is the only way to get a clean PPF install. I promise you with my Hybrid pattern approach mixed with bulking certain pieces I determine are good candidates that I will beat any expectations you have conjured thanks to the Internet!

Thank you

Why fully wrapping a vehicle in PPF is a beneficial investment

Let’s face it cars are expensive and not getting any cheaper! Many of us buy cars with the expectations of having them for a long time. Everyone in my family has owned their vehicles for over 5 years. New car buyers have no problem buying extended warranties, GAP insurance, and service plans but why is a product that costs a fraction such as PPF a taboo thing when its truly one of the most beneficial things you can do to preserve a vehicle’s appearance. Everyone loves the way a new car looks and usually tries hard to keep it looking good for a little while at least. Now let me ask you this, why wouldn’t you wrap your whole car in PPF? PPF is the ONLY product on the market that completely eliminates the risks of normal wear and tear, swirls in the paint and UV damage.

I want to elaborate a little on what is considered normal “wear and tear”. Often times other PPF installation companies pitch PPF as an impermeable force field for your paint. XPEL paint protection film is impact-resistant from a .75” diameter object at 140 miles per hour! For only being 8mils thick and almost completely transparent that is very impressive! The engineering that has gone into XPEL Ultimate Plus is the result of over 15 years of experience manufacturing film! Again self-healing prevents swirls and chemical burns but once the actual integrity of the film is compromised the piece will need to be replaced. Some companies pitch self-healing as if gouges in the film will heal. This is not the case with any manufactures PPF!

I have also seen PPF withstand key damage from a disgruntled patron trying to key a customers car on more than one occasion. In one particular case upon removal, I could tell that the perpetrator was really using force at the end and the PPF completely saved the paint from all key damage! Had the car not been fully wrapped in PPF the owner would have been looking at thousands in paintwork!

XPEL is also extremely swirl resistant because of its self-healing coating. This means automated car washes and improper wash techniques will not swirl the surface of your vehicle when fully wrapped in XPEL by American Wrap Co! Swirls on dark colored cars are a thing of the past with a full-body PPF wrap.

Another really common thing is door dings and dents. When a vehicle is fully wrapped in PPF a common door ding will be easily repaired by a paintless dent repair technician with no paint damage. I have personally dented my vehicles and was very thankful I fully wrapped them because I had my PDR technician pop the dent out with the PPF intact and it was like the incident never happened.

In conclusion, as you can see there are many advantages to fully wrapping your new vehicle in PPF. Paint protection film blocks harmful UV rays that fade paint, prevents most rock chips and scratches, door dings and dents won’t scratch the paint and swirls on dark cars are a thing of the past thanks to self-healing! Protect your car today with XPEL by American Wrap Co and keep your new baby looking sharp for years to come!!

This is a Tesla Model 3 that we full car wrapped in XPEL Stealth. It was keyed on the passenger side 1/4 panel. The insurance adjuster was doubtful that the paint was saved so we trimmed out around the keyed area to prove the paint was totally saved.

2019 Porsche GT3RS

As you all probably know by now here at American Wrap Company we will literally wrap anything. Whether its a classic 1928 Alfa Romeo or a brand new 2019 Porsche GT3RS. We are no strangers to wrapping everything and anything! Today though Id like to blog about the beautiful Porsche GT3RS Weissach that we just had the pleasure of doing a bunch of cool work to!

This car isn’t your run of the mill Carrera. This is a fire breathing dragon bread from 87 years of automotive engineering. The 2019 Porsche GT3RS Weissach package car is made for pounding laps around a race track. It has a thicker crankshaft with better oiling passages to keep the 520Hp motor ticking while you’re cranking out laps! The carbon-ceramic breaks are not only lightweight but also specifically designed to take a beating on the track stopping you on a dime!

The Weissach Package

The Weissach package is an 18,000$ upgrade that saves weight! The Weissach Equipped GT3RS comes with an ultra-thin hood and roof made out of 2 layers of carbon with a special clear coat. Weight savings was also achieved when Porsche opted to not install sound deadening material in the GT3RS. Porsche Engineers wanted you to here the gearbox, the engine revving to 9k and all the rocks flinging off the monstrous 325 rear tires! This all adds up to one of the most engaging driver experiences you can have in a street-legal car!

What American Wrap Company Did to this Porsche GT3RS Weissach

So by now your probably wondering what we did to the car! The real question is what didn’t we do to the car? We started by removing all the factory decals and quarter panel PPF. We then did a full paint decontamination and prep. This includes a thorough wash, deionizing spray on the surface, clay bar and lastly full panel prep with Shine Supply Throwback!

After all the prep was completed we wrapped the entire car in XPEL Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film! Every edge of the Ppf was wrapped and tucked for a completely edgeless look. On a dark color car like this, it is a critical step to make sure that all edges are hidden so that over time the car looks as good as the day we finished it. We don’t want dirt accumulating on the edges of the film!

Custom Options: Making it His Own

The owner of the car wanted to make this GT3RS unique to his style. The interior of the car had lime green seat inserts, door handle pulls, seat belts and stitching throughout the cockpit. The exterior of the car had a lime green ring on the wheels and lime green calipers! We custom made color-matched decals to bring the whole car together. We installed a new Porsche logo on the wing, GT3RS logos on the hips of the rear quarter panels and we accented the sides of the GT wing with lime accents. To finish everything off we did a single offset euro style racing stripe. The main body of the stripe is lime green accented with satin black one inch wide stripes. The idea with the stripe was to run it up and over the drivers head!

In conclusion, this was a very special project for us! The owner of the car was recommended to us by a mutual friend and we really wanted to make sure this project came out above and beyond everyone’s expectations! Look for this car rolling the streets from Thousand Oaks Ca to Los Angeles! This is one bad GT3RS that refuses to be missed!

Thanks,

Tyler

Classic Cars and Paint Protection Film in the Ventura County

Ventura County and Los Angeles have always been synonymous with the car scene. Whether its an import tuner, supercars or classics and Hot Rods it’s easy to say we love our cars!

As people nowadays are really putting a lot of money and time into building these beautiful masterpieces, it’s becoming more common to wrap them in Paint Protection Film!

American Wrap Company and Classic Cars

We were recently honored to wrap a few beautiful classics back to back for some of our vendors! We always take great pride in wrapping these works of art because we are the last step in the long build process before the vehicle hits the open road! This type of paint protection wrap work is not for the faint of heart and not every wrapper out there is even capable of the skill required to get these done! With our 11 years of experience, it is no big deal for us! Every piece of film is hand-laid and hand-cut with surgical type precision! A lot of planning, measuring and problem-solving is involved to get these jobs done correctly and to the degree of perfection, our company is founded on!

Wrapping a 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS

The first car we had the pleasure of wrapping just took 2nd place in the Concourse de Elegance at the 2018 Pebble Beach car show! It is a 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS. This car is very very special and has a lot of history behind it! The car is now owned by the great-grandson of the original family that built the car in 1928! This exact car is also the only 6C that was ever built by the Atcherley family in 1928! It’s also one of ten that was supercharged from production! It literally doesn’t get rarer than this! With an estimated current value in the two million dollar range, it is gorgeous! We wrapped every square inch in XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film! The owner then took the car and raced the 2018 Colorado Grand Rally! 1500 miles in 1928 comfort with a top speed estimated at 80MPH!

Wrapping a 1968 Chevy Camaro

The second beauty we recently had the pleasure of wrapping in XPEL paint protection film was a beautifully restored 1968 Chevy Camaro! This beauty was painted with a BMW blue for a very sharp look! its sporting Recaro seats inside, custom gauges, custom door panels and dash, shaved door handles, a nasty 383 stroker SBC and custom real 3 piece wheels! We were also extremely excited when we say it had a push-button starter! That is not something you see in a hot rod very often! Again we had the honor of wrapping every square inch of the exterior in XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film! The owner plans to drive it all around southern California and to local track events!

In conclusion, don’t ever think your car isn’t qualified for paint protection film! No matter how old or how new we can get it done! If the paint is pristine let us wrap it with XPEL ultimate plus in thousand oaks California and it will stay sharp for years to come!!

International Window Film Conference and Installation Competition

As we approach September it means that in a matter of days I will be boarding a plane and flying to the next IWFC show and installation competition! Don’t be fooled by the title the IWFC show is rooted with Paint Protection Film and not just window tint or flat glass. The IWFC is a 4-day trade show that bounces between the west coast, east coast and central United States each year in a different area.

The IWFC show consists of industry professionals from all around the world, hence the international title in the name. People from as far away as Asia, Russia, the UK, and even Jamaica come to the show! Typically the show is hosted in convention centers and occupies a few hauls as well as other ballrooms for guest speakers and meetings. The show is focused around the automotive and flat glass industry. On the automotive side, they have window tint, paint protection film, and glass repair. On the architectural side, it is focused on industrial window tint. Basically, it’s a trade show solely focused on window films and paint protection films.

Inside the main trade show floor, there is always three corals housing 10 plus cars. One coral is for the Paint Protection Film installation competition, another coral is for the window tint competition and the last houses cars for the glass repair competition. As primarily a paint protection film installer I only compete in the clear bra category. Every year the show is gaining more and more traction as more people from around the world catch word of it and come to test their skills against other installers from around the world.

This is always a great time competing against other people from around the world in your respective professions. 2018 will mark my fourth year in a row competing in the Paint Protection Film division. In the PPF class, we are always broken up into “heats” and then the top scoring installers from each heat are chosen for the select group of finalists. In our heats, we are given 55 minutes to install a partial hood with wrapped edges, fenders and mirror caps. In the final, we are given 85 minutes to install a full clear bra bumper kit.

Judging is based off a whole list of things. Its funny cause anytime I talk to people about the competition the first thing they always ask me is “what are you judged on?”. The easy answer is EVERYTHING! The judging panel is comprised of a team of 3 industry professionals from some of the industries largest Paint Protection Film manufactures. For 2018 we will have Alex from XPEL, Jaime from premium shield and Jacob from Suntek. They literally go in the vehicle coral with grease pens and flashlights to pick apart every aspect of your install. The three main categories are cleanliness of the vehicle, edging, and quality of application.

Cleanliness of the vehicle would apply to whether or not you wiped the vehicle down after your Paint Protection Film install and if there’s any trash left out. Edging has to do with alignment to edges, uniformity and any areas of Paint Protection Film that are lifting or peeling. The quality of install category applies to bubbles, scratches, lift lines or stretch marks, contamination under the film and silvering of the adhesive. Needless to say, there are a lot of possible points to lose and time is not on your side!

This will be my fourth consecutive year competing in this competition. I am the only person in competition history to place 2nd or 1st three years in a row. In 2015 I got second in Reno Nevada. 2016 brought me a first-place medal and the title of “Worlds Best Paint Protection Film Installer” in San Antonio. in 2017 we competed in West Palm Beach Florida and I was able to capture another second-place medal! For 2018 we are headed back to San Antonio TX and I am hoping its good to me once more! This year will also be a big year because I am competing for XPEL! XPEL Ultimate Plus has won my heart over and I am hoping to bring a medal home with the XPEL team that’s welcomed me in like a long lost family member! If I pull this off I will be the only competitor in competition history to place for 2 separate film manufactures!

All I can do is give it my absolute best! I think about these events every single day! Every day I perform clear bra installations I am thinking about that year’s competition! Its always a great trip and I have so much fun competing against the best from around the world!

Stay tuned for a blog about how it goes down the last week of September!

Thank You!

Tyler

Detailing Thousand Oaks

We often get asked about our process for detailing a vehicle that is wrapped in PPF, coated with ceramic or just the general way to properly wash a vehicle. Here at American Wrap Co in Newbury Park CA we are always more than willing to help our customers have the best possible understanding on Automotive detailing.

We don’t look at this as just a car wash. We consider it the art of vehicle detailing. The steps were going to describe in this write up will cover a routine maintenance wash for any vehicle.

To begin the wash we always recommend using a pressure washer held about 1 foot away from the vehicle’s surface. Rinse the vehicle from the top down. This is important to keep all contaminants running down towards the ground. Be sure to thoroughly rinse, really focus on getting the surface as clean as possible during the rinse process.

We then use a two bucket method to soap the vehicle. Our soap of choice is Shine Supply Shine Soap. For ceramic coated vehicles Shine Supply Shift Soap is our Go to! We then foam cannon the entire vehicle. Then using a Microfiber Madness wash mitt we scrub from the top down. After a 4sq foot section, we rinse the mitt in our rinse bucket, followed by a dunk into the clean soap bucket. Continue scrubbing, rinsing and dunking in the soap bucket.

Once the vehicle is totally scrubbed you can then give it one last thorough rinse with your pressure washer. Please note that depending on how dirty the wheels are you should clean them before starting on the paint to avoid water sitting on the paint unnecessarily long potentially causing water spots. We will have a separate blog on wheel care! Once you’ve completely rinsed off all the soap its time to dry!

Dry the vehicle with some sort of microfiber drying towel. Again start from the top and work your way down. It is preferable to not do this in direct sunlight. If you are in direct sunlight be sure to move quickly to avoid water spots. Once the majority of the water is off the car we use a compressed air blower and blast out all the nooks and crevices of the vehicle as well as the door jams.

Lastly, the windows are cleaned with Shine Supply Sunshine and we wipe the vehicle down with fresh towels and a product like Ride Shine, Clutch Silica, or Throttle. Various detail sprays with specific applications. Ride shine is great for raw paint, Clutch is a great rejuvenation to ceramic coating, and throttle is amazing on paint protection film or clear bra!

I hope this was educational. Please stay tuned for more! Thank you for reading and good luck detailing!

Fresh Tesla windshield taken care of by Tyler O'HaraNow I know what you’re thinking, it hardly ever rains in Ventura County and surrounding areas like Thousand Oaks but let me tell you first hand that this product performs on so many more levels! GlassParency creates a 3-year hydrophobic barrier to any glass surface. This cuts downtime when washing a vehicle, reduces night glare and helps pesky bugs and bird droppings do not stick to the glass!

With a two-step professionally installed application it creates a barrier to repel water, snow, ice, dust, oil, and dirt creating a resistant and easy to clean surface. Some of the major benefits include enhanced optical clarity, better driver vision, safety for the driver and all passengers, a reduction in day and night glare, and a more aesthetically appealing look to your vehicle glass. Glass Parency is chemically engineered to react to silica within the glass, creating a bond unmatched by the competition. It’s product attributes go beyond just a water repellency, making it ideal for any silica-based surface, in any climate or environment.

How is GlassParency Applied to My Vehicle?

Prior to the application, your vehicle’s glass will undergo a cleansing process. The releasing agents in the cleansing chemical will ensure that the pores of the glass are contaminant free to improve the bonding process. First, Chemical A is applied to the glass. Chemical A reacts to silica, growing a substrate within the pores of the glass. Next is Chemical B. Chemical B reacts directly to Chemical A, forming an ultra-hydrophobic barrier.

Every GlassParency automotive application is backed by a three year manufactures product warranty. This warranty ensures that the product will perform at its peak level as long as the glass is properly maintained. The maintenance process is simple but is recommend to be done by the Authorized Installer who applied the initial application.

Why Xpel Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film?

Nowadays there are many choices on the market for paint protection film. In fact, most people assume that it must be a 3m product. We’ve heard it a hundred times “is that a 3m owned product?”. We as installers have the choice to use whatever Paint Protection Film we feel is best for our customers. On today’s market, PPF is almost becoming a dime a dozen just like window tint. It seems like every manufacturer is jumping on board to try and penetrate the PPF market. There’s Avery Dennison, Durashield, S-Tek, Suntek, Lumar, 3M, Premium Shield, Solar Guard, Madico, Hexis Body Shield and of course XPEL.

There Are So Many Choice for PPF, Why Choose XPEL?

We feel out of the main choices for PPF manufactures XPEL really stands out above and beyond. Lets first talk about the warranty. XPEL’s company is built on customer support. They truly stand behind their product with an industry-leading 10-year warranty. The claims process is very streamlined and easy to handle through their main office phone number. The warranty is good from coast to coast in the USA! It’s as simple as opening a claim, removing the old film, sending it back in a box, receiving credit, and installing new film! They truly stand behind the film 100%!

XPEL’s Self-Healing Clear Coat

Even though the warranty is so amazing, we can assure you that you won’t need to use it because the film has a self-healing clear coat! That’s right, this stuff actually heals fine swirl scratches on its own! XPEL was the first PPF manufacturer to integrate a self-healing top coat into their film. The first rendition was XPEL Ultimate. This version launched somewhere around 2010. Since then it has been refined and tweaked many times all leading up to what we have today, XPEL Ultimate Plus! XPEL Ultimate Plus is hands down the best paint protection film we have ever touched. From its ease of installation, minimal texture topcoat, clarity, great adhesion for deep tucks and wraps, hydrophobic topcoat and self-healing its a knockout combo! The self-healing also gives the film extreme UV resistance so that it will not yellow. Finally, self-healing provides industry-leading chemical resistance. I have yet to find a chemical that will hurt XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF, including carb cleaner, lacquer thinner, brake cleaner, even brake fluid didn’t hurt it! If you truly want to protect your investment, do it with XPEL and American Wrap Co!
